Laurie Jones joined the practice in 2022. She has almost forty years legal experience as a trial and appellate litigation attorney, as well as a law school professor and associate dean. Ms. Jones is admitted to practice in Maine and Oklahoma as well the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
She is a 1984 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law. She clerked for the Oklahoma Supreme Court while in law school and then joined a mid-size law firm where she represented individual and corporate clients in employment, civil rights, commercial law, and general tort cases. She later started her own law firm and practiced there until she began teaching at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Her litigation experience includes cases at all levels of state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.
At Oklahoma City University School of Law, she taught legal research and writing, contract drafting, forensic evidence, and evidence in practice courses. She started the law school’s Street Law program and developed the Pro Se Waiver Divorce Docket Project with several other lawyers. She coached the Frederick Douglass and Constance Baker Motley Moot Court and Mock Trial Teams and authored the third edition of Oklahoma Trial Practice with two colleagues from the law school. She has received awards for pro bono service from the Oklahoma County and Oklahoma State Bar Associations, served on the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, and volunteered with Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma for domestic violence victims.
Ms. Jones’s family has been in the Searsport community for eight generations and she looks forward to continuing Fethke Law Office’s legacy of service and commitment to the people and businesses of Searsport, Waldo County, and the surrounding communities. She is living her dream at Porcupine Hill Farm in rural Waldo County.
